Munich, 1 November 2017. Ahead of AFM, Beta Cinema has inked first deals for Locarno’s Piazza Grande entry ICEMAN. The story of one of the big unsolved murder cases of all times, taking place more than 5,300 years ago in the Ötztal Alps, will premiere in the UK (Bulldog), in Spain (Festival Films), China (Lemon Tree) and Discovery in Croatia. The US deal is in final negotiations. ICEMAN will have its AFM market premiere today (Nov 1st), 1.30 pm, Arclight 4.

Shot in an early version of the Rhaetic language, the feature of writer/director Felix Randau (“Northern Star”) and multiple awarded DOP Jakub Bejnarowicz (“Wetlands”, “Mercy”) requires no translation to comprehend the story. The camera follows Silver Bear winning German star Juergen Vogel (“The Wave”) who plays Kelab, an elaborated hunter and keeper of the holy shrine. After his tribe being murdered and the holy shrine stolen, Kelab is out for one thing alone – vengeance.

ICEMAN is produced by Port au Prince Film & Kultur Produktion/Jan Krüger (“Jack”) in co-production with Echo Film, Lucky Bird Pictures and Amour Fou Vienna.
