Italian audience celebrates Bruno Ganz starrer “The Tobacconist”
The Tobacconist, starring Bruno Ganz as famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, has been celebrated by Italian television audiences. The feature film, which premiered prime time on main terrestrial broadcaster Rai 3 last weekend, scored 8.5% with over 2 million viewers, doubling the channel’s average. The Tobacconist, based on the international bestseller by Robert Seethaler, is a tender, heart-breaking story about a young man and his friendship with Sigmund Freud during the Nazi occupation of Vienna. Praised by international critics for its strong cast performance, it stars Simon Morzé, Johannes Krisch (REVANCHE) and Bruno Ganz (DOWNFALL, BREAD & TULIPS), as director serves Nikolaus Leytner (HALF A LIFE). The film, released in cinemas in 2018, has been sold by Beta worldwide, among others to the US, Japan, Australia, Russia, China and throughout Europe.
