ACCLAIMED COMPETITION ENTRY FROM HILDE, WITH LOVE TRAVELS ACROSS EUROPE AND AUSTRALIA

Following its World Premiere at the Berlinale Palast, which moved most of the cheering audience to tears, Beta Cinema can announce first sales across Europe and Australia for Andreas Dresen’s competition entry FROM HILDE, WITH LOVE. The subtle resistance drama which is led by Babylon Berlin’s Liv Lisa Fries and introduces Johannes Hegemann in his first big screen appearance, will be released in France by Haut et Court, in Italy by Teodora and throughout Scandinavia by Angel Films. Beta Cinema also closed deals for Benelux (September Film), Portugal (Outsider), former Yugoslavia (Discovery), Hungary (Cirko) and Czech Republic (Film Europe). Palace Film picked up the film for Australia and New Zealand. Pandora Filmverleih will release FROM HILDE, WITH LOVE in the German-speaking territories in October 2024.

While the leading actress Liv Lisa Fries was denied the great honour of winning a bear, her outstanding performance was praised throughout the international trades. Multi-award-winning German director Andreas Dresen (Stopped on Track, Cloud 9) directed from a script written by Laila Stieler (Silver Berlin Bear winner for Rabiye Kurnaz vs George W. Bush). Judith Kaufmann (The Teacher’s Lounge, Corsage) lensed the story that is set in Berlin in 1942: it was the most beautiful summer for Hilde – madly in love with Hans and joyfully pregnant. But amid the passion there is grave danger. Hans becomes involved in the anti-Nazi resistance, with a group of young people who will later be called the “Red Orchestra”. Despite the huge risks, Hilde decides to get involved herself but is arrested by the Gestapo and gives birth to her son in prison. Now in a desperate situation, Hilde develops a quiet inspirational strength, but she only has a few months left with her son.

FROM HILDE, WITH LOVE is produced by Pandora Film Produktion in co-production with Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, „Kinoinitiative Leuchtstoff“ and Arte in collaboration with Ziegler Film and Iskremas.
